In the CLIDEV activities schedule, five lecturers from the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry participated in a specialized workshop titled "Drone and LiDAR Technologies for Restoring Tropical Forest Ecosystems," held from July 24th to 26th at the Doi Suthep Nature Study Centre, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. This intensive three-day workshop, facilitated by the Forest Restoration Research Unit (FORRU) of Chiang Mai University, was part of the CLIDEV project ("Strengthening Climate Change Education for Sustainable Development in Vietnam"), funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
The workshop focused on enhancing practical skills in drone technology, covering both fundamental and advanced operational techniques. Participants also learned about drone imagery analysis using tools like Agisoft Metashape and Pix4D, and the use of QGIS for detailed map production and tree crown delineation. The knowledge and skills gained in this workshop will significantly contribute to teaching and research in forest management, enhancing our efforts in forest restoration and promoting sustainable livelihoods. We are excited to see the positive impacts of these advanced technologies on our ongoing projects and research initiatives.
