SUMMARY
Needs are the individuals‟state, it has a role of both orientation and the internal driving
force that stimulates human‟s activities. From the practice and the trend of innovating the
learner-centered teaching method, it is urgent for the scientific research on the basis of
surveying the needs of students to associate with the application of practical conditions of
the school not only with Tay Nguyen University but also with all of the Universities and
Colleges nationwide nowadays.

This survey collected documents and interviewed students about their participation in
extracurricular sports activities at Tay Nguyen University. The results of the survey show
that the majority of students have interests and like to participate in sports activities, have
a need to take part in extracurricular activities at school. However, the current amount of
time to practise sports at school can not meet the needs of the students about both the
practice time in one session and the number of training sessions per week. Most students
are aware of the benefits of sports practice and five sports most chosen by students are:
Badminton, Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming, Teakwondo. From the survey results, we

have proposed solutions to develop extracurricular sports activities in the direction of
meeting the needs of students to practice sports as well as to develop the movement of
practising sports at Tay Nguyen University.
